Vehicle Receipt

The vehicle journey
New vehicles

Vehicles are received from sea, rail and road. Customer system interfaces communicate with our systems to provide data for planning and automated scanning receipt processes. Hand-held technology is used to scan key data uploaded to our Vehicle Tracking Maintenance System (VTMS) to identify and control vehicles.

Refurbishment

Vehicles are received from road and are pre-notified via our VTMS system. Vehicle data is scanned upon arrival to advise the customer of its receipt. Vehicles are identified and placed on contracts using hand-held technology. The information collated on each vehicle is uploaded to our VTMS.

Vehicle Inspection At First Point Of Rest

The vehicle journey
New vehicles

Vehicles are inspected at point of receipt for damage and/or defects. Our technological developments record inspection results found on VTMS. All damage/defects are input into the VTMS providing a traceable record of the vehicle’s damage history.

Refurbishment

Vehicles are inspected at point of receipt for damage and/or defects caused during transportation. Damaged vehicles are processed for claims. All vehicles are washed prior to a full defleet inspection in accordance with defleet and remarketing standards. Customer is advised of all damage and/or defects falling short of the standard.

Vehicle Storage & Handling

The vehicle journey
New vehicles

Vehicles are stored and moved by compound operation teams. VTMS records and tracks vehicles in compound locations. Operation efficiency is achieved through use of Compound management program tools used for individual vehicles and site visibility. Hand-held terminal technology is powered by renewable wind energy in remote locations.

Refurbishment

Vehicles that fall within the standard, or require work, are stored and moved by compound operation teams. VTMS records and tracks vehicles in compound locations. Operation efficiency is achieved through use of Compound management program tools used for individual vehicles and site visibility. Hand-held terminal technology is powered by renewable wind energy in remote locations.

Vehicle Technical Work Scheduling: New Car Enhancement, Paint & Accident Repair

The vehicle journey
New vehicles

Vehicles are scheduled for work using VTMS. VTMS manage all work scheduled including type of work and time allowed. VTMS provides complete visibility of what is to be worked on, how much work is to be done (in vehicles and hours) and types of vehicles scheduled for work.

Hand-held terminal technology is powered by renewable wind energy in remote locations.

Parts Ordering & Stock Control

The vehicle journey
New vehicles

Parts required or technical work are ordered, received and controlled by parts department. Parts management is completely visible and traceable using VTMS showing which parts are ordered and issued to each vehicle. It also shows the work in progress and work yet to be completed. New technological advances in automated inventory control systems will lead to greater accuracy and efficiency of parts management techniques.

Vehicle Technical Work: Paint & Transportation Repair

The vehicle journey
New vehicles

Vehicles scheduled for work are examined against the required standards and enhancement levels in the workshop. VTMS and scanning system provides detailed work instructions (job cards) giving complete traceability of when the job was completed and by whom. VTMS provides important statistical data on productivity, labour utilisation and overall efficiency, tracking length and time allowed on a job. New technology has been developed to provide important display material directly to a work area (e.g. installation manuals, standard operating procedures).

Vehicle Storage & Handling (awaiting transportation)

The vehicle journey
New vehicles

Vehicles are stored and moved by compound operation teams. VTMS records and tracks vehicles in compound locations. Compound management programs provide visibility of transport load requirements. Work is separated from urgent to non-urgent to ensure improved efficiency of labour and compound space. Scanning and hand-held terminals allow for paperless vehicle movements.

Refurbishment

A re-inspection is conducted upon completion of a repair to ensure the vehicle is fit for sale. Vehicles are then moved into storage by compound teams. VTMS records and tracks vehicles in compound locations. Scanning and hand-held terminals allow for paperless vehicle movements. Valet to the given standard is requested at receipt of customer notification of sale and point of delivery.

Vehicle Transportation – Multiple Car Transport Delivery, Single Car Covered Delivery

The vehicle journey
New vehicles

Using a versatile fleet of transporters from 11-car carriers to single-vehicle covered carriers for dedicated deliveries, vehicles are taken to centres. Multi-depot fleet across the UK. epod technology allows for instant, paperless vehicle acceptance at centres. Vehicles move between centres and are returned to hubs as per customer requests.
